Contract as outlined below. 1.
How to Book
To reserve your place/s on one of the trips organised
by Tasmanian Expeditions Pty Ltd ACN 101 349 366
(TE), you should complete a TE Booking Form and
send it, together with a non-refundable deposit
of $200 per person, to the TE office, or to your
travel agent. It is essential to read the Booking
Form carefully as it contains important information.
2. Payment
The prices quoted on this website are for payment
by cash, cheque or money order. Payment by credit
card will be accepted for balance payments (being
any payments made after payment of the prescribed
deposit referred to in point 1 above) with a 3%
service charge. The balance of the tour price is
payable to TE 30 days prior to departure. Failure
to pay by that date entitles TE to cancel your booking
without notice and without refund of the deposit.
Prices are quoted in Australian dollars (unless
otherwise specified) and all payments must be made
in Australian dollars. 3.
Amendments/Transfers
If you wish to change your original arrangements,
or transfer to another trip, you must notify TE
in writing. Once TE receives your notice (subject
to availability and the agreement in writing of
TE, which agreement may be withheld by TE in its
sole unrestricted discretion) the amendment or transfer
will take effect. Any amendment or transfer will
incur a $100 administration fee. Transfers may only
be made to another tour to commence within 12 months
of your original departure date, and the following
additional charges will apply:
if the booking is changed between the time of booking
and 30 days prior to your original departure date,
$100; or if the booking is changed within 29 days
prior to your original departure date, charges levied
in accordance with TE’s cancellation fees
will apply. 4. Cancellations
If it becomes necessary to cancel your trip, you
must notify TE immediately in writing. Once TE receives
your notice or if you do not attend the designated
meeting place on the designated date and time for
your trip, cancellation will take effect. Unless
TE agrees to the contrary in writing, for any cancellation
subsequent to a change to your original arrangements,
or transfer to another trip, 100% of the trip price
will be forfeited. For any other cancellation, unless
TE agrees to the contrary in writing, the following
charges will apply on cancellation:
if cancellation takes place more than 30 days prior
to your departure date, your full deposit will be
forfeited; and if cancellation takes place less
than 30 days prior to your departure date, 100%
of the tour price will be forfeited. The tour price
is quoted as a package.
No partial refunds or credit will be given for services
not used. Any amount forfeited, which has not then
been paid to TE by you, may be recovered from you
by TE as a debt due and payable. For the avoidance
of doubt, any cancellation referred to in this clause
4 will result in the forfeiture amounts referred
to above being enforced. In the event that you wish
to amend or transfer your tour in accordance with
clause 3 of these Conditions, you will incur the
administration fee referred to in clause 3 and you
will not be entitled to any refund of the forfeited
amounts referred to above in the event that you
subsequently cancel the amended trip unless such
refund is agreed to in writing by TE. Please note
that the operation of all trips is based on TE achieving
a minimum number of bookings. If TE do not get the
required number of people for a trip and have to
cancel the trip, you will be notified as soon as
possible. In such circumstances, you will have the
option of transferring to another trip or seeking
a full refund monies paid. 5.
Health and Fitness Requirements
Participants must be in good health and physical
condition. TE recommends that you choose a trip
within your capabilities. As with most activities
the fitter you are the more you will enjoy your
trip. TE trips are designed to suit most people.
However, our Tour Guides take their responsibilities
seriously and if a Tour Guide believes in his/her
judgment that you should not participate in an activity
then you may be excluded from participating in the
activity. If you have any doubts about your suitability
for a particular trip, we recommend that you contact
us and consult with your medical practitioner. Some
of our trips have minimum age limits as follows:
Cradle Mountain Trek: 14 years
Franklin and Frenchman’s Cap, South Coast
Trek: 16 years
All other trips: 10 years 6.
Insurance
Personal travel insurance is not included in the
tour price and is not compulsory except for the
South Coast Track and Franklin River Rafting trips.
It is highly recommended that you take out a reliable,
appropriate insurance policy to suit your circumstances.
7. Weather
Most TE trips operate in the outdoors and as such
are dependent on weather conditions for example,
water levels when rafting, wind/rain conditions
for cycling, etc. For these such reasons TE reserves
the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of any
trip at any time at its absolute discretion. TE
will advise you as soon as possible if prevailing
weather conditions will affect the scheduling/running
of your trip. At times, alterations to a trip by
TE may not occur until after a trip has actually
commenced. 8. Pre-departure
Information & Equipment needs
On receipt of your Booking Form and deposit you
will be issued with trip information notes. These
notes will tell you where to meet and give more
detail on the day-to-day itinerary, clothing and
equipment needs. TE will provide certain group camping
equipment, such equipment includes cooking gear,
tents and sleeping mats. Unless indicated in this
brochure as being included in the trip you are responsible
for ensuring that you have appropriate equipment
for your trip. Certain items such as sleeping bags,
wet weather gear and backpacks are available for
hire from Paddy Pallin in Launceston (booking is
necessary). 9. General
Information
If you require accommodation before or after your
trip please advise TE or your booking agent so that
appropriate arrangements can be made. Additional
accommodation costs are not included in the prices
quoted in this brochure. 10.
Private Groups
As a general rule, TE can run a trip for any group
of 6 or more people at prices similar to those listed
